Academic Profile

Ioanna Afroditi Mazi is a PhD candidate at the Department of Audio and Visual Arts, Ionian University (since March 2024), researching the adaptation of cultural heritage content in the digital era. She is a member of the creative team for the documentary series “In the Mirror of History”, contributing to the translation of historical and cultural elements into virtual digital forms, with a focus on designing historical avatars within appropriate cultural and aesthetic frameworks.

She holds a Master’s degree in Audiovisual Arts in the Digital Age (2023) from the same department and is currently a research fellow of the International Society for Ethics and Information Technology (INSEIT) for the 2024–2025 academic period. Her academic background includes a BA in History and Archaeology from the University of Ioannina.

Her interdisciplinary research and creative practice have been presented at international conferences, including DCAC 2021, where she presented “Design and Development of a Guerrilla-Based Museum Gamified Experience”, and ICOT 2024, where she participated in showcasing the INDIANA Project.
